Reflexology: A story of the earth and our brain
Reflexology is a way to signal the brain that you are walking "barefoot", giving the brain the signals needed to process stress in the body and to return to harmony...re:integrate.
How is this possible? You see, there are nerve pathways that travel from the foot to the brain and it is by walking barefoot on textured surfaces (textures offered by the earth such as sticks, stones, grass & sand) that these nerve pathways are stimulated to sends signals to our brain that interrupt stress and/or pain to any body part, organ or gland. This is a practice that our brain yearns for daily, and when our brain receives the signal, circulation improves, and stress gets interrupted immediately, returning us to a state of well-being.
Sounds delightful doesn't it? It is!
However, in our culture, our feet are covered daily by conventional shoes causing our feet to be sensory deprived. Our natural ability to process stress is diminished greatly. When the brain doesn't receive signals daily to interrupt stress, mild stress continues to build up, and over time, uninterrupted stress becomes chronic stress and dis-ease and pain occurs.
It's also important to make note that stress is not "bad" for us, for it is a part of life. Are we giving our brains the signals needed so that our bodies can process daily stress more efficiently? Let's send that signal to the brain through reflexology and re:integrate! Let's walk barefoot on the earth daily!
